Preservation

If by accident
your eyes
were hollowed out
with a melon scoop
I'd preserve them
in a mason jar,
pickled like radishes,
cucumbers or peaches,
over time, the juice
of it all
bubbling,
its fizz
rising to the top,
like a seltzer bottle
a fish tank
or a shaken snow globe,
keep you on my sill.
